Diets

There are thousands of diets. Some are for losing weight, while others are for gaining weight, lowering cholesterol, living a long and healthful life, and many other reasons.
The Atkins diet, or Atkins nutritional approach, focuses on controlling the levels of insulin in the body through a low-carbohydrate diet.
The ketogenic diet has been used for decades as a treatment for epilepsy and is also being explored for other uses. It involves reducing carbohydrate intake and upping fat intake. It sounds contrary to common sense, but it allows the body to burn fat as a fuel, rather than carbohydrates.
There are various types of vegetarian: lacto-vegetarian, fruitarian vegetarian, lacto-ovo vegetarian, living food diet vegetarian, ovo-vegetarian, pesco-vegetarian, and semi-vegetarian.
Veganism is more of a way of life and a philosophy than a diet. A vegan does not eat anything that is animal-based, including eggs, dairy, and honey. Vegans do not usually adopt veganism just for health reasons, but also for environmental, ethical, and compassionate reasons.
The raw food diet, or raw foodism, involves consuming foods and drinks that are not processed, are completely plant-based, and ideally organic.
The Mediterranean diet is Southern European, and more specifically focuses on the nutritional habits of the people of Crete, Greece, and southern Italy. Nowadays, Spain, southern France, and Portugal are also included, even though Portugal does not touch the Mediterranean Sea.

Clark the shark

Clark the Shark

In the wide blue sea, there was a school, the top school of all the sea, its name was Theodore Roosterfish Elementary. Everyone went to this school, but, the biggest and the strongest kid was Clark the shark.
Clark was a shark, so when he played with his friends he was wild and he played very hard, while he was having lesson he made a lot of noise, when he ate with the others he munched everything etc.
So, nobody wanted to play with him, and he was very sad.
One day he asked to the teacher what was wrong with everyone, and she told him that there is a time and a place for everything, and when he was at school he had to stay cool.
Clark tried to stay cool but he always forgot it... all of sudden he had a great idea, he made a rhyme for everything he did.
For example, while he was having lesson the rhyme was "WHEN THE TEACHER IS TALKING, DO NOT GO WALKING", when he was having lunch the rhyme was "ONLY MUNCH YOUR OWN LUNCH".
So Clark was able to stay cool at school, and all his friends wanted to play with him.
Suddenly at school arrived a new kid, Sid the squid.
Sid was very big and very wild, like Clark, in fact, they immediately became friends; when they played together they were wild and they destroyed everything.
One day, while they were playing, Clark stopped and said to Sid that if he wanted to stay at school and play whit other fish he had to stay cool.
At that moment everyone cheered to Clark because finally he learned the rule:
"WHEN YOU ARE AT SCHOOL, STAY COOL" and also that "THERE IS A TIME AND A PLACE FOR EVERYTHING".

My favourite film

Risultati immagini per the fault in our starsMy favourite film is "The fault in our stars", a film that is taken from a book, wrote by John Green. This is a dramatic film, that is based on the story of Eisel Grace, that has a cancer.
She falls in love with Augustus Water, another guy with a cancer. They have a story, and during this love story they go to Amsterdam and they meet Eisel's favourite writer.
When they come back, Augustus has several healthy problems and in a few of days he die.
I think that it's a wonderful movie because it teachs you that even if you have problems you can realize your dreams.
I advise you to see it!!!

A film review

Twilight
Risultati immagini per twilightTwilight is a 2008 American romantic-fantasy film, based on Stephanie Meyer's popular novel of the same name.
This movie is directed by Catherine Hardwicke, and the film stars are Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart. It's the first film in The Twilight Saga film series.
This film is about the development of the relationship between Bella Swan, a teenage girl, and Edward Cullen, a vampire, and the efforts of Edward and his family to keep Bella safe from a coven of evil vampires.
The characters are brillant and the screenplay holds your attention; the creatures we see on screen, like Jacob the were-wolf, are really realistic.
The special effects are excellent, like the soundtrack.
I think it's the best movie I have ever seen!
If there is just one word that can describe this film, that would be absolutely "spectacular".
The film is for the older than 14 years old.

An unforgettable Christmas!!!!!!

When I opened the gift box I found a book about horses.
I was only 10 years old and I was in holidays because it was Christmas time.
In that year I really loved horses and Rihanna, a famous singer. For Christmas I wanted the tickets for the concert of Rihanna .
I really wanted it, so I asked to my parents if they could give me the tickets... but they said no.
On Christmas day, at the moment of opening- present I was really excited because I believed that my parents gave me the tickets... but when I opened the box I found a book about horses. I felt very sad, there were not the tickets. What a nightmare!
Suddenly, while I was reading the book, 4 tickets fell down, I was the happiest child in the whole world, I'll never forget that Christmas.

My first exam!

I was only 14 years old, it was June, and it was a sunny day.
But, I felt very worried, because that day I took my first exam; I was at middle school.
I never took an exam, so I felt scared and frightened because I believed that it was so difficult, but, when I started talking, all my fears and all my worries disappeared.
Risultati immagini per esame terza mediaWhen I finished, all my teachers cheered me, finally it was over, and I breathe a sigh of relief.

Easter

Easter is the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus from the tomb on the third day after his cruxifixion. Easter is the fulfilled prophecy of the Messiah who would be persecuted, die for our sins, and rise on the third day. Remembering the resurrection of Jesus is a way to renew daily hope that we have victory over sin.

The early Christians began remembering the Resurrection every Sunday following its occurrence. In A.D. 325, the Council of Nicaea set aside a special day just to celebrate the Resurrection. The problem with an official day was deciding whether the Resurrection should be celebrated on a weekday or always on a Sunday.
Many felt that the date should continue to be based on the timing of the Resurrection during Passover. Once Jewish leaders determined the date of Passover each year, Christian leaders could set the date for Easter by figuring three days after Passover. Following this schedule would have meant that Easter would be a different day of the week each year, only falling on a Sunday once in awhile.

Easter is one of the holidays most intertwined with pagan symbolism and ritual.

Easter symbols

What is the first thing that comes to mind when you think of Easter?

As a Christian, the first image might be the cross or the empty tomb. For the general public, a blitz of media images and merchandise on store shelves makes it more likely that the Easter Bunny comes to mind. So how did a rabbit distributing eggs become a part of Easter?
There are several reasons for the rabbit, or hare, to be associated with Easter, all of which come through pagan celebrations or beliefs. The most obvious is the hare’s fertility. Easter comes during spring and celebrates new life.

Next to the Easter bunny, the most familiar symbol is the Easter egg. Like others, the egg has a long pre-Christian history. Again there’s no certainty as to why it became associated with Easter. Many Ancient cultures viewed eggs as a symbol of life.

Of all Easter symbols, the lamb is probably the most strongly Christian. Other than the fact that lambs are young animals born in springtime, it has no strong ties to pagan traditions.
The lamb comes from the Jewish Passover, where each family killed a lamb as a sacrifice. When Christ became the Passover Lamb for everyone, the lamb became a symbol for His sacrifice.

Cleopatra

Cleopatra VII Philopator was an Egyptian Queen and the last pharaoh of Ancient Egypt.
Deposed from power by her brother, Cleopatra aligned herself with Julius Caesar to regain the throne. After Caesar’s murder, she became the lover to Mark Anthony. but, after Mark Anthony had been defeated by the forces of Octavian in the Roman Civil War, Anthony and Cleopatra committed suicide, rather than fall into the hands of Octavius. Her death marked the end of the Ptolemaic Kingdom of Egypt – and Egypt became absorbed into the Roman Empire.
Cleopatra was born around 69 BC. Her father Ptolemy XII died (in 51 BC) when she was 18, leaving Cleopatra and her brother Ptolemy XIII as co-regents. As was the custom of the time, Cleopatra married her brother, and together they ruled Egypt. However, Ptolemy soon had Cleopatra exiled, leaving him in sole charge.
Between 48BC and 47BC became queen of Egypt and gave birth to Caesarion, which means “little Caesar.”
For a time Cleopatra’s reign brought relative stability to the region, bringing a degree of peace and prosperity to a country bankrupt by civil war.
In 44BC, despite being married to Octavian’s sister, Mark Anthony began a relationship with Cleopatra. Together Cleopatra and Mark Anthony had three children.
Cleopatra and Mark Anthony were decisively beaten in battle and scarcely escaped back to Egypt. Mark Anthony and Cleopatra both took their own lives, committing suicide on 12 August 30BC. In one account of her death, Cleopatra committed suicide by persuading a cobra to bite her on the breast.

The villagers didn’t know what to do.

The dragon took all their money, but still was not satisfied.
The king sent his army to try and capture the dragon, but the dragon was too strong and the knights of the army were too scared and they ran away.
With nothing left to give, the king could only think of one thing to help protect his people. He sent his only daughter, the princess, to the lake to wait for the dragon. When George heard this he rode as fast as he could to the lake.
Just then the dragon jumped out from the lake and was going to eat the princess. George attacked the dragon. He fought very bravely, won the fight and killed the dragon.
George and the princess returned to the village and everyone was very pleased that they would have no more problems with the dragon.
